Household Appliances Bearings

A deep groove ball bearing (DGBB) is the most widely used rolling bearing type. It carries radial and moderate axial loads in both directions, with low friction, low noise and high speed capability. In household appliances, DGBBs support the motor and drum shafts of washing machines, fans, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators and air conditioners.

Typical washing machine bearings are 6204, 6205 and 6206 sealed versions — for example 6205-2RS (25 × 52 × 15 mm) for the drum, plus 608 or 626 for the drain pump. 2RS rubber seals protect against water and detergent.

The most common ceiling fan bearing is 608ZZ (8 × 22 × 7 mm). Larger or heavier-duty fans use 6000ZZ (10 × 26 × 8 mm) or 6200/6201 series.

2RS means two rubber contact seals — best protection against moisture, dust and detergent, with slightly higher friction. ZZ means two metal shields — lower friction but lighter protection. For washing machines choose 2RS; for fans and vacuum motors ZZ is usually sufficient.

C3 is an internal clearance larger than normal (CN). During operation the motor shaft and rings heat up and expand; C3 keeps the bearing clearance stable at working temperature, preventing preload, overheating and noise. It is the standard choice for appliance motors.

Yes. 2RS/ZZ bearings are pre-lubricated and sealed for life — no relubrication or servicing is required for the bearing's entire service life, which is why they are used in sealed motors and drums.

62 is the series, 05 is the bore code (05 × 5 = 25 mm bore), and 2RS indicates double rubber seals. So 6205-2RS is a 25 × 52 × 15 mm sealed bearing. For bores below 10 mm the code is the bore size itself — 608 has an 8 mm bore.

Standard bearings with standard grease operate from about −30 °C to +120 °C, with short peaks up to +150 °C. For dryers, ovens and compressors, specify high-temperature grease and C3 clearance.
