Maintenance precautions

 

  • Cleanliness is Critical

Do Not Wash: These bearings are typically supplied with factory grease and sealed (2RSD). Never wash, degrease, or spin them dry, as this will remove the lubricant and damage the seals.

  • Temperature & Thermal Expansion

Controlled Heating: If an interference fit is required for the inner ring, heat the bearing to a maximum of 80°C (176°F) using an induction heater or oil bath.

Avoid Direct Flame: Never use an open flame or excessive heat, as this will permanently damage the grease, seals, and the ceramic balls' structural integrity.

Thermal Runaway Prevention: Ensure the housing and shaft are machined to the correct tolerances to allow for thermal expansion during high-speed operation.

  •  Installation Technique

Uniform Force: Apply mounting force only to the ring being press-fitted (e.g., press on the inner ring if fitting onto the shaft). Never transmit force through the rolling elements or seals.

Avoid Impact: Do not use hammers or punches. Use a hydraulic press or a proper mounting sleeve to apply smooth, even pressure.

Seal Protection: Take extreme care not to damage the 2RSD contact seals during installation, as seal damage will lead to grease leakage and contamination ingress.

  • Lubrication & Preload

Factory Grease: The "2RSD" designation means it is pre-lubricated and sealed. Do not add additional grease, as over-lubrication causes churning, excessive heat, and seal failure.
